Grace not Perfection was exactly what I needed for 2017. First can I please just say that it is so pretty! I love the pictures that truly bring the stories to life and the colors Emily Ley chose. It makes everything feel so real and the gold stripes make my heart happy. The ribbon book mark is genius and I think all books should come with one! I can’t wait to read Emily Ley’s new book that she has been working on too!
Grace not Perfection is raw and so true to everyday life. It was an outlet to finding grace in your heart when things seem tough or just throughout the every day hustle of life. I personally feel as if I am always striving for perfection in everything that we do but realizing that it is OK to hire someone to help you get things done, and OK to let dishes sit in the sink for one night is such a relief.
Simply knowing that we are not alone in this journey and crazy life of go go go is a blessing in itself. Then there is the chapter on mom guilt. This is real, so real and it was such a blessing to read her tips and her encouragement in finding peace throughout the craziness of life. Finding contentment and peace in everyday life is such a journey. I will leave you with a paragraph from this incredible book.
“Contentment plays an enormous role in our ability to simplify. In fact, it’s the very foundation of the concept. Imagine what life would look like if we were truly content with just the objects we own. Sit on that for a minute. All you have now is all you’ll have. That thought makes the kitchen table I want to replace look pretty good. Merriam-Webster defines contentment as a state of happiness and satisfaction. Yes, please. I deeply want that kind of peace. Just like the pages in our planners, our lives could use more white space. More emptiness-physically speaking. When we rid ourselves of excess we make room for God.” (Grace not Perfection By Emily Ley)
If you ever feel like you are constantly striving for perfection and are caught up in the hustle of life slow down just long enough to pick up this book. It is wonderful and you wont regret it! You can find it
