When Julia and John first reached out, they shared a vision that went far beyond pretty pictures and noted to us that they were looking for a luxe Cleveland engagement session. They were dreaming of an experience — an editorial-level engagement session that would double as a surprise for their wedding guests and capture the essence of their love in a way that felt personal, elevated, and unforgettable.
And let us tell you: they delivered.
From the grand halls of the McKinney Mansion to the refined coziness of their private residence, this Cleveland engagement session was packed with couture-level fashion, cinematic details, and joyful energy that made the entire day feel like a celebration.
Julia and John’s session unfolded across three stunning locations: Hanna Gardens, the McKinney Mansion at the Western Reserve Historical Society, and their private home. Each space brought its own tone and beauty, reflecting a different facet of their story together.
We began in the romantic arches and lush walkways of Hanna Gardens, where golden light filtered through the greenery. The McKinney House offered timeless elegance — ornate doorways, rich textures, and sculpted gardens set the scene for their next look, equally refined and joyful.
And then came the most personal stop of all: home.
Back at their private residence, we moved into a more intimate chapter of the day. The session shifted from grand to grounded — but never lost its sophistication. In the family library, surrounded by beautiful artwork and curated bookshelves, Julia and John shared cocktails and a custom cheese board, laughing and toasting in a way that felt effortless and deep.
It was one of those rare transitions — from editorial to emotional — where everything clicked. We captured moments on their sweeping staircase, with the soft light hitting just right and the elegance of their home creating a cozy-but-luxury backdrop. Every corner of their space felt intentional, and every detail, from the art to the glassware, added layers to the story we were telling.
This session was all hands on deck. Both Robert and the videographer captured footage from the ground and the sky — yes, we brought the drone.
Floating above gardens and staircases, we were able to weave in epic wide shots and cinematic pans that added even more drama and dimension to their gallery and film. And honestly? Watching Julia’s dress catch the breeze from above while they twirled in the garden? Goosebumps.
These moments weren’t just captured, they were crafted. And the result was a gallery (and film!) that feels like a love letter, a fashion spread, and a timeless heirloom all in one.
